Estacaille Genealogy One Name Study
genealogy of the Estacaille (and variant spellings) families around the world
No surprise, as I get further back in my family tree it gets harder to prove connections whether with records and/or DNA. This post is about my Hubbard branch, a link to PEI’s infamous? Capt. Edward Abell, and my 5th great-grandmother Susannah Hubbard.
Now, if we have the correct records, Susannah Hubbard gave birth to a son, (Capt.) William Hubbard, on 26 Feb 1799 in St Katherine Cree Church in London, England. Just a couple weeks earlier on 6 Feb 1799, Susannah Hubbard married Edward Abell in the same church.
Why does William have Susannah’s (assumed) maiden name for his birth name? So can I assume that Edward Abell is not his biological father? I’m going to go by that theory for now. And was Capt. Edward Abell born in England? Or was he possibly from Maine or Maryland?
Is Hubbard Susannah’s maiden name? Or married name from a previous marriage? I haven’t had a subscription that lets me see the actual image of the marriage record or banns. I’ll have to put this on my to-do list. Judging by the description of the personalities of Edward Abel and Susannah from the tale of “The Story of Pearce and Abel” I’m hazarding a guess that they didn’t have any children, but I could be wrong.
Then there’s the names of William’s and wife Sibella Dingwell’s children – do they have hints to names of other relatives?
If you’ve been researching this tree too and have any theories to share, let me know.
