Estacaille Genealogy One Name Study
genealogy of the Estacaille (and variant spellings) families around the world
When I first started thinking about this new sub-blog, I was deciding what would be important to record. Then thinking of the scrapbooks I have from my grandmother recording bits of farm life with receipts and notes of supplies & equipment purchases. No, is the perfect time to record some of receipts of my purchases plus other notes as the US/Canada tariff “war” starts next week.
There’s been complaints for several months now of the cost of US groceries such as eggs. It varies from state to state, but a search of Reddit shows people posting a dozen eggs in upstate NY costing $7.49, California $9.38, Texas $5-$7… So, here’s a great opportunity to record some Canadian pricing, pre-tariff and during another avian flu breakout. I’ll post more as the months go on.
Cashews – imported Vietnam = $9.77
Campbells soup – USA = $2.97 per can
Aylmer soup – Canadian = $0.97 per can (unfortunately I think there’s something in their cream of mushroom that doesn’t agree with my guts so I’ll have to stop using it. Tomato is ok so far)
Rio Mare tuna – imported Italy/Singapore = $6.97
Daybreak 12 large eggs – local = $7.38
Mann’s snap peas large bag – imported Mexico = $6.97
Grimms honey garlic pepperoni 600 grams- Canadian = $11.97
Black Diamond cheese strings 16 – Canadian = $8.78
Butter croissants – made in Canada? need to double-check = $4.97
Friskies canned cat food, 32 cans – pretty sure this is US imported = $28.77
Roast beef lunch meat – Canadian + import ingredients = $3.00 (after multi-discount)
Most essential food items are GST exempt. GST/PST would apply to pet food, non-food items. Any upcoming tariff pricing will be embedded in price increases.
